RELAPSE INTO NEW CRIME

When a previously convicted person commits a new crime, the person is called a recidivist. In the statistics on repeat offenders, it is calculated how many people, convicted in any given year, was in subsequent years once again found guilty, regardless of the type of crime.

Convicted persons are followed over a five year period. At relapse into new crime, a distinction between relapse respectively 1-3 and 4-5 years after the year of the first criminal act is made.
